Drug Screening
What is the difference between DOT drug testing & Non-DOT drug testing?
DOT drug testing is mandated by the Department Of Transportation for safety-sensitive employees in industries such as transportation (e.g, trucking, aviation, rail, transit). The testing is governed by specific regulations outlined in Title 49 of the Code Of Federal Regulations (CFR) Part 40.
Non-Dot testing is not mandated by federal regulations and is typically implemented by private companies, organizations, and institutions at their discretion. The testing protocols are determined by the employer's drug-free workplace policy.
What methods are commonly used for drug screening?
Common methods for drug screening include urine tests, blood tests, hair tests, and saliva tests.
What should I bring with me?
Please bring the following items with you for drug screening:
-A valid (non-expired) picture ID such as a passport, drivers license, military ID, employee badge, or any other photo ID that was issued by a federal, state, local government-issued ID.
-All authorization forms or paperwork from your employer.
What is the drug screen process?
-If you are completing a urine drug screen, you’ll need to be able to provide 45 mL or 1.5 fluid ounces of urine sample.
- If you can’t provide a full sample once the collection has started, you’ll have three hours to complete a full sample.
- If you leave during the collection for any reason, this is considered a refusal to test and can hold the same consequences as a positive results to your employer.
